2027 Changes to the ACTC & ACTC Renewal Requirements

Modified on Tue, Jun 23 at 1:50 PM

There is an important change coming for those individuals who are looking to apply for the ACTC or to renew their existing ACTC.

Changes to the Coaching Supervision Requirement

The requirement to complete Coaching Supervision as part of applying for the ACTC is not changing.  Nor is accepting Coaching Supervision for the renewal of the ACTC.  What is changing is who is eligible to provide Coaching Supervision.

CurrentlyACTC Applicants:
  • The supervisor holds an active Coaching Supervision certification, credential or accreditation by a coaching or coaching supervision professional body; OR
  • The supervisor has completed at least 60 hours of coaching supervision training and has at least 120 hours of coaching supervision experience

Beginning January 1, 2027ACTC Applicants and ACTC Renewal Candidates: Must work with a supervisor who:
  • Holds an ICF CSS or holds a Coaching Supervision credential OR accreditation from another supervision or coaching body, AND
  • holds an ICF ACTC or a Team Coaching credential OR accreditation from another coaching body.

Introducing the Coaching Supervisor Specialization

Q: If my supervision was or will be completed in 2026 or earlier can those hours still be used towards my ACTC application if I apply in 2027 or after?

A: Yes.  Any supervision that meets the current requirements (see chart above) and completed prior to 2027 can be used towards the Coaching Supervision requirement when applying for the ACTC.

Q: I completed an AATC program prior to 2027.  Can I still use that to apply for the ACTC?

A: Yes.  Your completion of an ICF-accredited AATC education program will continue to be accepted. No need to complete any additional requirements.

Q: If my supervision was or will be completed in 2026 or earlier, or if I provided supervision prior to 2027, can those hours still be used towards my renewal in 2027 or after?

A: Yes.  Any supervision that meets the current requirements (see chart above) can be used towards the renewal of your ACC, PCC, MCC or ACTC renewal.

Q: When and where can I find a supervisor who holds a Coaching Supervisor Specialization?

A: Later this year, we will be releasing a Coach Supervisor Registry. This will allow you to search for eligible coach supervisors.
